Nvidia's RTX PRO 5500 Packs Flagship Power with Record-Breaking Memory
Nvidia has expanded its professional graphics lineup with a new workstation card that combines the processing power of its flagship consumer GPU with a memory pool more than twice as large. The RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell, announced on September 14, targets teams running agentic AI, physical simulation, and demanding graphics workloads from rack-mounted systems.
The card is built around the same GB202 silicon found in the GeForce RTX 5090 and the top-tier RTX PRO 6000. It carries 21,760 CUDA cores, matching the RTX 5090 exactly, while drawing up to 600 watts under full load. Where it diverges sharply from the gaming flagship is in memory: the RTX PRO 5500 ships with 84GB of GDDR7 with error-correcting code support, versus 32GB on the RTX 5090.
The card's bandwidth lands slightly above the RTX PRO 5000's 1,344 GB/s but well below the 1,792 GB/s shared by the RTX 5090 and RTX PRO 6000. The RTX PRO 5500 is designed primarily for centralized, rack-mounted workstation deployments rather than conventional desktop towers.
