Nykredit A S Makes Big Bet on American Express
Nykredit A S, a global financial institution, has made a significant investment in American Express Company (AXP), acquiring approximately $64.3 million worth of shares during the second quarter. This move is part of Nykredit's strategy to diversify its portfolio and tap into the growing demand for payment services.
According to the latest SEC filing, Nykredit A S purchased 190,226 shares of American Express stock, bringing its total stake in the company to an undisclosed amount. Other institutional investors, such as Flputnam Investment Management Co., Evolve Private Wealth LLC, and OMERS ADMINISTRATION Corp, have also made significant investments in American Express during the same period.
Wall Street analysts have issued mixed views on American Express' prospects, with some upgrading their price targets while others downgrading their ratings. Truist Financial recently lifted its price target to $375 from $360, citing the company's strong earnings growth and increasing market share. However, Royal Bank Of Canada lowered its rating to 'hold' from 'moderate buy', cautioning that American Express' valuation may be stretched.
Despite these mixed views, American Express has reported a 10% year-over-year increase in revenue for the second quarter, with earnings per share (EPS) beating expectations by $0.12. The company's net margin stood at 15.07%, and its return on equity was 34.12%. Analysts expect American Express to post EPS of $17.68 for the current fiscal year.
