Ohio Business Sues Woman Over Allegedly False Google Review
A northeastern Ohio business has filed a defamation lawsuit against a Columbus woman over a one-star Google review. Starr Manufacturing Inc., which builds oil and gas production equipment in Vienna, claims that the woman knowingly published false and defamatory allegations about the company.
The review in question was written by the defendant in March and stated that the company's work had faced quality control issues due to shoddy subcontractors. The complaint alleges that none of these claims are true and that the company has suffered reputational harm as a result.
The lawsuit seeks over $25,000 in damages, attorney fees, and an order barring the woman from publishing further defamatory content. According to the complaint, the defendant is not a customer of Starr Manufacturing Inc. and the review was made without any connection to a business transaction.
