The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles has announced that Android users can now add their state ID and driver's license to Google Wallet, allowing for a digital version of their physical card. This innovation simplifies access to BMV services and makes it more convenient for Ohioans to interact with the agency.

The Mobile ID, which is encrypted and protected by personal authentication, can be used to verify age or identity at various locations, including state buildings, TSA checkpoints across the US, and casinos. This digital companion is similar to tap-to-pay technology and can only be validated through specific readers designed to decrypt the credential.

When residents open their Mobile ID in Google Wallet, they can review exactly what data is shared. The IDs are also protected by remote data erase features, allowing users to delete their ID if their device is lost or stolen. This latest innovation follows a long line of new features that save time and make it more convenient for Ohioans to interact with the BMV.
