Ohio Mobile ID Arrives on Android Devices via Google Wallet

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles has expanded its Mobile ID program to Android devices through Google Wallet.

Ohio residents can now add their driver's license or state ID to Google Wallet, allowing them to use it as a digital companion to their physical card.

Bureau Registrar Charlie Norman described the launch as 'the next phase of the programme,' which aims to expand accessibility to all Ohioans.

The Mobile ID can be presented and validated through readers built to decrypt the credential, similar to tap-to-pay technology.
