Ohio State ID Now Supported in Google Wallet on Android
After a 10-month hiatus, Google Wallet has added support for Ohio state IDs on Android devices. This brings the total number of supported digital state IDs to 12, with Ohio joining Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Puerto Rico.
The setup process requires taking photos of the front and back of your physical card, as well as a short video of your face for verification. This information is sent to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) for review, which can take a few minutes. Once verified, you'll receive an email confirmation from the state agency.
The digital ID can be used for secure sharing, and it's accepted at some airports by the TSA. However, it's essential to note that the physical card is still required, as the digital version does not replace it. To add or remove a digital ID, users must navigate to the Google Wallet app settings.
