Ohio State Lands Record-Breaking $17 Million Jersey Patch Deal with JPMorganChase
Ohio State University has announced a groundbreaking partnership with JPMorganChase, making it the official bank sponsor for its athletics department. The deal is worth nearly $17 million per year, with the logo of Chase Bank appearing on all 36 varsity teams' uniforms.
The agreement covers more than just branding; Chase will also sponsor new facilities and offer perks to its cardholders, including ticket deals and game day savings for fans and students. Additionally, Ohio State athletes will have access to Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) deals and financial education programs through the partnership.
University officials emphasize that this deal is about more than just cash, citing JPMorganChase's deep roots in Ohio and its commitment to supporting local communities. The university reported a record $336 million in revenue for fiscal 2025, with expenses at around $320 million. The extra funds from the partnership will contribute significantly to covering expenses.
This deal sets a new benchmark for college sports sponsorships, surpassing what some professional teams receive. It could signal the start of a new era in college athletics and may encourage other schools to follow suit.
