Ohioans Can Now Add Driver's Licenses to Google Wallet
Ohio residents can now add their driver's licenses and state identification cards to Google Wallet using their Android devices. The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced this new option, which expands the Mobile ID program and allows users to access digital IDs on their phones.
The digital IDs are only available for Android users and can be presented and validated at participating businesses, state buildings, casinos, and Transportation Security Administration checkpoints nationwide. To add an Ohio driver's license or state ID, users must open the Google Wallet app and follow a series of prompts to verify their identity.
According to the BMV, digital IDs are encrypted on the device and protected through personal authentication. If a phone is lost or stolen, its digital ID can be removed using remote data-erasure features.
