Omni Upgrades Entire AW139 Fleet with Advanced Weather Radar

Omni Taxi Aereo (Omni), an offshore helicopter operator, has chosen Honeywell Aerospace's IntuVue RDR-7000 weather radar system for its entire fleet of 33 Leonardo AW139 helicopters.

The decision to equip all 33 aircraft with the latest technology represents a significant upgrade of Omni's weather detection capabilities, particularly in demanding offshore missions where rapidly changing weather and limited diversion options can increase operational complexity.

The RDR-7000 system continuously scans the atmosphere to build a real-time picture of conditions along the aircraft's flight path, providing pilots with earlier and clearer warnings of hazardous weather, including turbulence, hail, lightning, and wind shear.

Honeywell claims that independent testing has shown that the RDR-7000 can help predict turbulence with up to 93% accuracy, potentially reducing the likelihood of turbulence-related incidents by more than half.
