OneDrive Photos App Accidentally Installed on Windows 11 Devices
Microsoft's accidental rollout of its OneDrive Photos app to Windows 11 users has caused frustration, as removing it currently requires uninstalling the main OneDrive app.
The company says the wider-than-intended deployment was an error, but users who don't want the new app have limited options. The only straightforward way to get rid of OneDrive Photos is to remove the main OneDrive client from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, then restart the PC.
Microsoft is working on a fix and promises that users will soon be able to remove OneDrive Photos separately from the main OneDrive app. On enterprise PCs managed through Microsoft Intune, the company says the app will automatically disappear where it isn't supported.
The OneDrive Photos app was designed for personal Microsoft accounts and is still in beta. It brings the OneDrive web and mobile photo experience to the Windows desktop, with features like search, albums, Favorites, and Moments.
