OneDrive Photos App Invades Enterprise Windows 11 Installs Without Warning
Microsoft has once again upset IT administrators with its latest move to push the OneDrive Photos app onto Windows 11 PCs. This time, it's not just consumers who are affected, but also enterprise customers using Microsoft Intune.
The app, which was quietly installed on PCs, is tied to the existing OneDrive sync client and works only with a personal Microsoft account. This has left many IT administrators fuming, as they cannot use the app on their enterprise installations.
One IT admin quoted in Windows Latest said, 'Microsoft never learns.' He added that managing hundreds of PCs using Intune is now more complicated due to this unwanted addition.
The OneDrive Photos app is essentially a glorified web wrapper that loads Microsoft Edge and opens the OneDrive.com gallery section. It's not clear why Microsoft decided to push this app onto enterprise PCs without any notice or warning.
