OpenAI is working with its rivals Anthropic and Google's DeepMind on AI safety concerns, according to Bloomberg News. The development comes after a meeting over the weekend where the heads of America's leading AI labs called for a pause in AI technology development due to global concerns about existential risks.

Chris Lehane, OpenAI's global policy chief, stated that the company had been in talks with Anthropic and Google for several weeks. He emphasized that the three firms did not believe they needed an antitrust waiver to coordinate on safety issues.

'It's better to try to work together to prioritize safety,' Lehane said at a briefing in Washington, according to Bloomberg News.

Lehane also mentioned that OpenAI would support any bipartisan legislation aimed at mitigating catastrophic AI risks.
