OpenAI Takes 20-Year Lease on Nvidia-Backed Ohio Data Center Project
Nvidia-backed data center project PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio, has secured a major tenant in OpenAI. The AI platform, known for its ChatGPT chatbot, signed a 20-year lease agreement with the campus.
The campus will be one of the world's largest data centers and is expected to cost as much as $500 billion to build out, according to The New York Times. Nvidia has secured land, power, and shell rights through its partnership with SB Energy, which will provide at least 10 GW of power capacity.
Nvidia is committing to invest $1.5 billion in the project and will use its DSX AI factory platform to build out the campus. The company has guaranteed up to $105 billion in credit and financing for the project, down from a previously reported $250 billion.
