Opera Aims for $1 Billion Revenue with Focus on AI and E-Commerce
Opera, a browser provider, used its appearance at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026 to outline its growth plan. The company aims for $1 billion in revenue, up from about $700 million in the latest year.
Management described Opera as the largest independent browser and a neutral layer for AI tools, not a direct rival to AI platforms. E-commerce has become a major growth engine, rising from $40 million a year to more than $200 million in quarterly run-rate terms.
The company said it has kept EBITDA margins around 23% to 24% while returning more than $500 million to shareholders since 2020. Opera's chief executive Frode emphasized that the company wants to be the browser that demanding users choose instead of the default option on a phone or computer.
Opera is focusing on areas like iOS, Opera GX, and MiniPay, alongside continued expansion in developed markets. The company highlighted its work around AI and browser-level services, including the launch of Opera Neon, which uses a subscription model to help cover computing costs for native AI experiences.
