Opera Loses Court Challenge Against EU Exemption of Microsoft's Edge from DMA Rules
Opera has lost its court challenge against EU regulators' decision to exempt Microsoft's browser Edge from rules reining in Big Tech.
The European Commission deemed Edge not an important gateway for businesses to reach users, despite meeting quantitative criteria under the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Opera argued that the Commission misapplied these criteria, but the Luxembourg-based General Court sided with the EU antitrust watchdog.
This is another court victory for the EU's DMA decisions, which set out a list of dos and don'ts for Big Tech companies.
