Ostrea Solar Goes Live Under Microsoft PPA
Cypress Creek Energy's Ostrea Solar project in Yakima County, Washington has achieved commercial operation, generating 80 MWac of power. The facility is valued at around $180 million and represents a significant investment in private funds.
The project was made possible through a long-term power purchase agreement with Microsoft, which will receive the electricity and environmental products generated by Ostrea Solar. This arrangement provides a stable revenue stream for the project and demonstrates the growing demand for clean energy from major corporations like Microsoft.
Cypress Creek Energy took steps to minimize the project's impact on the local environment, conserving 275 acres of critical shrubsteppe habitat and preserving wildlife corridors. The company also revegetated degraded former cropland with native grasses and pollinator-friendly plants.
