Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Gets His Own Live-Action Animated Miniseries on Disney+
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is getting his own TV miniseries on Disney+, a live-action animated three-part series that's been a long time coming.
The 'Oswald' miniseries was announced at this year's D23 fan event and will star an all-star comedy lineup, including Albert Brooks, Amy Sedaris, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Martin, Al Madrigal, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Ryder Allen.
Oswald was created in 1927 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks for Universal Pictures and starred in more than two dozen theatrical short films in the late 1920s. However, in 1928, Universal took control of the Oswald character from Disney, prompting the latter to create a replacement known as Mickey Mouse.
The 'Oswald' miniseries is written, directed, and executive-produced by Jon Favreau and will mix hand-drawn 2D animation with live-action. The series comes to Disney+ in February 2027, almost three decades after Disney gained the rights to Oswald in a trade with NBCUniversal.
