Jerusalem-based venture capital fund OurCrowd has made its most profitable exit to date after Visa's acquisition of Israeli cybersecurity company BioCatch. The deal, announced this week, values BioCatch at $2.4 billion, more than double the $1.3 billion valuation it received from private equity fund Permira in 2024.

OurCrowd invested in BioCatch as early as 2015 and had already sold some of its shares to other investors by the time of the sale. However, estimates suggest that OurCrowd still received around $200 million in cash from the deal, with about $100 million coming from this week's sale.

The acquisition is Visa's second-ever purchase in Israel and reflects a significant increase in valuation for BioCatch over just two years. The company provides security services to large banks in the US and Western countries and has been backed by a range of investors, including foreign private equity funds and venture capital firms.
