Outlook Account Disconnect Options Revealed
Microsoft's Outlook email service offers various ways to disconnect from your account on different devices. If you're using the new Outlook for Windows, go to View > View settings, then click on 'Accounts' and select 'Manage' next to your account. Under Account details, choose 'Remove,' but be cautious of the option that permanently deletes calendar entries or other items stored in Microsoft Cloud.
On mobile devices, open Settings in Outlook, tap Accounts, and select the email account you want to disconnect. Tap Remove Account, repeating the process for each account you wish to remove. If account removal fails, use the remote sign-out method for a personal Microsoft account or ask your administrator to revoke your sessions if it's a work or school account.
For those using classic Outlook, open File in the app and select 'Account Settings.' Choose Account Settings again, then select the email account you want to disconnect and click Remove. Confirm with Yes to remove the account's downloaded cached content. This process applies to classic Outlook for Microsoft 365, Outlook 2024, and Outlook 2021.
Users on Mac can use the account-management menu in the current Outlook for Mac interface: open Tools > Accounts, select the email account you want to remove, choose Manage > Remove Account, and confirm with Continue. Browser sessions can be ended by selecting your account picture or initials in the upper corner of the inbox, choosing Sign out, and closing all browser windows afterward.
