Outlook and ChatGPT Hit by Widespread Disruptions

Microsoft Outlook users experienced widespread disruptions on Monday, August 31, 2026. According to reports compiled by Downdetector, nearly 6,000 users reported an outage for Outlook.

Affected users were unable to open, search, or send emails through the service. The outage started in late morning and was still ongoing as of 12:38 PM EST.

OpenAI's ChatGPT also experienced a partial outage, with users across multiple subscription plans reporting issues. OpenAI confirmed on its status page that it is working to resolve the issue.
