Outlook and Teams Fail to Launch on Some Arm-Based Devices After Microsoft Update
Microsoft's recent August security update has caused problems for some users of Arm-based devices, including Surface hardware. The update, which was released on or after August 11, has stopped Outlook and Teams from launching reliably on affected devices.
The issue is most likely to occur on new or freshly imaged PCs that have not yet installed any Microsoft Store updates. Classic Outlook, Word, Excel, and other applications are not known to be affected by this problem.
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and added it to the Windows release health dashboard. The company recommends installing version 1.0.19.0 or later of the Auto Super Resolution Package through Microsoft Store as a possible solution. This package is normally used for enhancing game performance, but it may also help with launching Outlook and Teams.
In addition to the Outlook and Teams issue, a separate problem has been introduced by the August 27 preview update. Custom mouse pointers may revert to Windows defaults on affected devices, which are mostly running Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2.
