P&C Insurers Post Mixed Q2 Results, Travelers and Essent Shine
The Q2 earnings season for property & casualty insurance stocks has come to an end. The sector, which protects individuals and businesses against financial loss from damage to property or from legal liability, saw a mixed performance during this period.
A total of 32 property & casualty insurance stocks reported their quarterly results, with revenues beating analysts' consensus estimates by 2.3%. However, share prices have collectively declined, averaging a 1.1% drop since the latest earnings releases.
The report highlights that Travelers (NYSE:TRV) provided a wide range of commercial and personal property and casualty insurance products to businesses, government units, associations, and individuals. The company reported revenues of $12.09 billion, flat year on year, but beat analysts' EPS estimates.
Another standout performer was Essent Group (NYSE:ESNT), which saw a 13.6% year-on-year increase in revenue to $362.7 million, outperforming analysts' expectations by 9.7%. The company's business had a stunning quarter with a beat of analysts' EPS estimates.
Radian Group (NYSE:RDN) and MGIC Investment (NYSE:MTG), on the other hand, experienced softer quarters, with Radian Group reporting a significant miss of analysts' EPS estimates. However, MGIC Investment recorded a strong quarter with a beat of analysts' EPS estimates.
