P&G Acquires Science-Backed Supplement Brand Thorne for Premium Wellness Expansion
Procter & Gamble is expanding its presence in premium health and wellness with the acquisition of Thorne, a science-backed supplement brand founded in 1984. The deal will bring Thorne into P&G's Personal Health Care business, which includes a range of products for self-care and prevention. 'Consumer interest in self-care, prevention, wellness, and personalized health continues to grow,' said Paul Gama, CEO of P&G Healthcare.
Thorne offers nutritional supplements and health technology tools to consumers, healthcare practitioners, and athletes, with its products used by over seven million people. The company operates a manufacturing facility in South Carolina and has developed its products through clinical research and an in-house team of doctors, researchers, and scientists.
The acquisition is expected to close later this year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. P&G will acquire Thorne from L Catterton's Flagship Fund, with Perella Weinberg serving as Thorne's lead financial advisor.
