P&G Acquires Thorne for $3.8BN, Expanding Healthcare Reach
Procter & Gamble has announced its acquisition of Thorne, a US-based supplements company, for $3.8 billion in cash. The deal marks P&G's entry into the dietary supplements business and is expected to strengthen its healthcare offering. Thorne was founded in 1984 and has been operating under L Catterton's investment since October 2023.
L Catterton invested in Thorne to help it grow through strong recruitment drives, marketing, and investment in R&D and infrastructure. The company developed a range of nutritional supplements and tech-based innovations such as Taia, an AI-powered wellness advisor. Colin Watts, CEO of Thorne, praised L Catterton for their partnership and role in preparing the company for its next chapter.
The acquisition by P&G will help expand its healthcare business and meet growing consumer interest in self-care, prevention, and personalized wellness. Paul Gama, CEO of P&G Health Care, said that Thorne strengthens P&G's position in premium wellness with a trusted, science-backed brand.
