P&G Buys Thorne Supplement Brand for $3.8 Billion
Procter & Gamble (P&G), the largest consumer goods company in the US, has announced it will acquire supplement brand Thorne for $3.8 billion.
The deal marks P&G's continued push into health and wellness, with CEO Shailesh Jejurikar stating that the acquisition will help grow its healthcare division.
Thorne's CEO Colin Watts said in a statement that the company had chosen P&G as its partner because it shares Thorne's commitment to science, quality, and customer satisfaction.
P&G already owns several brands, including Pantene, Tide, and Oral-B, and has previously issued voluntary recalls of some personal care products. Some supplement users have expressed concerns about the potential impact on product quality and pricing under P&G ownership.
However, Thorne's spokesperson stated that the company has no plans to change its products or formulation as a result of the acquisition.
