P&G Scoops Up Thorne for $3.8 Billion Health and Wellness Play
Procter & Gamble (P&G) is acquiring supplements maker Thorne for $3.8 billion, according to CEO Shailesh Jejurikar's comments on CNBC.
The deal marks a significant push by P&G into the health and wellness market, aligning with growing consumer interest in preventive care and self-care products.
P&G's supplements portfolio currently includes New Chapter, Metamucil, and Align Probiotic. The company had forecast slower annual sales growth earlier this month, but the Thorne acquisition could help offset softness in other categories.
Thorne was taken private by L Catterton in 2023 for $680 million, and it is now set to reach $650 million in sales this year, according to CNBC. P&G's rival Unilever also announced a deal to buy Gruns, a U.S.-based nutritional supplements brand, earlier this month.
