P&G Seals Thorne Deal, Expands Wellness Business
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced its plan to acquire Thorne, a supplements maker, as part of its expansion into the wellness business. According to P&G CEO Shailesh Jejurikar, the deal aligns with industry benchmarks for growth rates.
The valuation of Thorne was reported at up to USD 4 billion in June, when UK-based consumer health company Haleon was also bidding for it. However, P&G has now secured the deal and is set to make its purchase.
Jejurikar stated that 'the price is a good price for the growth rates they have,' implying that the acquisition is a strategic move by P&G to tap into Thorne's high growth potential.
