Procter & Gamble (PG) is one of the largest consumer staples companies, and its stock price has dropped to a discount of around 19% from its highs. This presents an opportunity for investors who are looking for a high-yield dividend stock.

The S&P 500 is currently up about 12% year-to-date, but index funds offer a relatively low yield of just 1%. In contrast, P&G yields close to 3%, making it an attractive option for income-seeking investors. The company's quarterly dividend is $1.0885 per share, or $4.35 annualized, and its forward yield is 2.95% at today's share price of $147.50.

P&G has a long history of paying dividends, having done so for 136 consecutive years and increasing it for 70 straight years. This track record has earned the company the title 'Dividend King.' The dividend has grown at a 5.6% annualized rate over the past five years, and management plans to return around $15 billion in fiscal 2027, with roughly $10 billion allocated towards dividends.

The company's growth prospects look solid, particularly outside of North America and Europe, where it currently generates about half and 23% of its sales respectively. P&G continues to invest in product innovation and marketing while trimming weaker categories, which should support more growth over time.
