Parkinson's Startup Remepy Secures US$36 Million for Breakthrough Therapy
Remepy, a startup focused on developing innovative treatments for Parkinson's disease, has secured US$36 million in funding to advance its lead program into Phase III trials. The Series A round was co-led by Merck KGaA's M Ventures and O.G. Venture Partners, bringing the company's total funding to US$62 million.
The company believes that medicine is entering a new era where every breakthrough drug will be paired with personalized intelligence to maximize its impact for each patient. Remepy is developing treatments that combine prescription medicines with AI-powered therapeutic apps, tailored to individual patients' needs and profiles.
The lead Parkinson's program pairs levodopa with a digital protocol covering motor skills, speech therapy, cognition, sleep, stress reduction, attention training, and psychoeducation. Phase IIa results showed significant improvements in motor and non-motor symptoms, alongside functional MRI evidence of strengthened connectivity in motor and limbic brain circuits linked to improved motor control and mood.
The company's model is also gaining interest among doctors, with nearly half of physicians surveyed indicating that they would be more likely to prescribe a drug if it were paired with a digital therapeutic.
