Patriarch of Family and Community Passes Away at 79
Jerry Baxter Savage was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who left an indelible mark on those around him.
Born on March 29, 1947, to Fred and Lucille Savage, Jerry grew up in Belton High School class of '65 before embarking on a 30-year career with General Motors and eight years with Honeywell FMT.
He met his wife Cindy through the fishing community, marrying in 1983, and together they welcomed three children: Shawn, Melyssa, and Kara. Jerry's love for the outdoors led him to become a skilled fisherman and entrepreneur, operating a trolling motor repair business and even trying his hand at worm breeding.
Jerry was a proud Papa to six grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and his genuine nature was magnetic. His faith in Jesus guided the way he lived, reflected in his kindness, generosity, and love for others.
