Pentagon Awards Contracts to Boost Production of Critical Missile Hardware

The US Department of Defense has entered into agreements with Boeing and Raytheon to increase production of critical hardware for SM-3 Block IB and IIA interceptors. The SM-3 program serves as the backbone of US sea-based missile defense operations.

Under the agreements, Boeing will expand production of avionics and ejector assemblies used in SM-3 interceptors, which support precise missile intercepts outside Earth's atmosphere. Raytheon is the prime contractor for the SM-3 program, alongside Boeing and the DoD.

The initiative aligns with the Pentagon's Acquisition Transformation Strategy, designed to streamline administrative overhead and scale the defense industrial base.
