PepsiCo Emerges as a Hidden Gem Amidst Coca-Cola's All-Time High
Coca-Cola's stock price has surged nearly 24% this year, reaching an all-time high and outperforming major indices. In contrast, PepsiCo's share price has declined by 3.8% year-to-date, hovering around $138 per share.
The disparity in performance between the two companies can be attributed to Coca-Cola's ability to navigate inflationary pressures and consumer spending challenges with greater success. The company's strong brand portfolio and operational resilience have allowed it to maintain a premium price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 26.3, compared to PepsiCo's 16.1.
PepsiCo's North American food and beverage business has been experiencing a slowdown over the past three years, but international operations continue to drive the company's overall results. International now accounts for 40% of PepsiCo's total sales, with Europe, Middle East, and Africa convenient foods and beverage businesses, as well as Latin America Foods and Asia Pacific Foods, experiencing double-digit revenue growth.
