Pershing Square Invests Heavily in Netflix and Six Other Stocks Amid AI Concerns
Billionaire investor Bill Ackman's Pershing Square has made significant investments in several companies, including Netflix and six other stocks. In its recent interim report, Pershing Square Holdings disclosed that it initiated new positions in these companies during the second quarter.
The Pershing Square team, led by Ackman and Chief Investment Officer Ryan Israel, purchased shares of Netflix after the company's 50% decline from all-time highs in June 2025. The report states that concerns about competition from artificial intelligence (AI) and short-form content on social media platforms have put pressure on Netflix's stock.
Ackman and Israel argue that AI will not significantly impact Netflix's business, as the company can amortize its high upfront costs across a large user base. They also believe that AI will help improve content recommendation capabilities and ad targeting for Netflix.
Pershing Square's other investments include Visa and Mastercard, which sold off earlier this year due to fears about agentic AI and stablecoins creating more efficient payment routes. The team also purchased shares of S&P Global, Intercontinental Exchange, and Alcon.
