Petco Enters Halloween Bucket Fray with Lid-Toting Buckets
Petco has entered the Halloween bucket trend started by McDonald's, releasing its own 2-gallon buckets for $7. The Petco versions come in two designs: a green Frankenstein face and an orange jack-o'-lantern. Unlike McDonald's McBoo Buckets, which often feature handles instead of lids, Petco's buckets have lids that can be used for storage or as pet toy containers.
The trend started by McDonald's with its Happy Meal pails has gained momentum in recent years, with retailers like Home Depot and now Petco joining the fray. While some argue that Petco's $7 price tag is too high compared to Home Depot's $3 buckets without lids, others see the value in having a lid for storage purposes.
These Petco Halloween buckets are available online only, but the company also offers smaller trick-or-treat pails with no lids for $1.50 each, which can be picked up in-store at participating locations.
