PhonePe Teams Up with Visa for Cardless Payment Solutions
PhonePe has formed a partnership with Visa to bring cardless payment solutions to Indian consumers and merchants. The collaboration, announced at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, will enable users to make payments across online, offline, and international channels without physical cards.
The partnership includes three new services: Tap to Pay, Cross Border Scan to Pay, and Smart Accept. PhonePe said these solutions are designed to simplify digital payments for consumers while giving merchants more ways to accept payments from customers in India and abroad.
One of the key features is the launch of Visa's cross-border QR payment functionality through PhonePe. This makes PhonePe the first Indian app to offer this capability, allowing Indian users to make QR-based payments while traveling internationally at participating merchants.
The partnership expands PhonePe's presence beyond its traditional UPI-focused payments business. Tap to Pay is aimed at contactless transactions, while Smart Accept is designed to help merchants accept digital payments across different payment channels.
