Ping An Prepares to Sell Salesforce Tower Stake
Chinese insurance giant Ping An is reportedly preparing to sell its half-stake in Sydney's tallest office building, Salesforce Tower. The proposed sale is valued at $900 million, which would represent a decline of around 20% from the peak values four years ago.
Ping An first put up its interest in the tower for sale three years ago when interest rates were rising and commercial property prices began to fall. However, the sales campaign was halted after receiving lowball offers at the time.
It is not clear what triggered Ping An's decision to revive the sale process this time around. The move would be a significant development in the Australian real estate market, where values have been under pressure in recent years.
