Pixel 11 Falls Short: Higher Price, Fewer Upgrades Make Last Year's Model a Better Buy
The latest Google Pixel 11 may not be worth the hype due to its higher price point and lack of significant upgrades compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 10. The Pixel 11's price hike is a major concern for consumers, as it now costs $100 more than last year's models across all storage options.
The Pixel 11's Tensor G6 chip uses the same 3nm node as the previous generation, rather than moving to a 2nm process as rumored. This means that the latest model only offers incremental improvements over its predecessor, barely justifying the higher price tag. Additionally, the top-end Pixel 11 Pro with 512 GB storage only comes with 12 GB of RAM, compared to the Pixel 10's 16 GB across all Pro and XL tiers.
The Pixel 11 also makes some compromises in camera performance, with only marginal improvements over the Pixel 10. The cameras on both models are still capable of taking high-quality photos, but the Pixel 10 offers a brighter flash output. With the software tricks available to improve image quality across all Pixel models, it's not worth spending extra for the Pixel 11.
The design of the Pixel 11 is also similar to its predecessor, with only minor changes that don't justify the higher price. Cases from last year can still be used with the new model, and many are now discounted due to the Pixel 11's release. This means that consumers can save money by opting for a Pixel 10 instead.
