Pixel 11 Pro Camera Software Updates: A Double-Edged Sword
Google's Pixel 11 Pro has been touted as a camera powerhouse, and the latest updates to its photography software do not disappoint. The main highlights include Magic Capture, Instant Night Sight, Camera Looks, Creator Suite, Pro Stable Video, and an expanded Pro Zoom feature.
One of the standout features is Magic Capture, which allows users to capture video while pointing their phone at whatever is happening. The AI then picks out highlights worth saving, storing them as still images in the photo gallery along with a video version of the clip.
The Pixel 11 Pro's camera software has also received an update to Instant Night Sight, allowing for faster low-light photography. This is thanks to the Tensor G6 CPU and larger sensors, which enable more light to be captured and reduce exposure times.
Camera Looks is Google's answer to Apple's Photographic Styles, offering four permanent looks: Original, Natural, Shadows, and Vanilla. However, users can swipe through six additional filters that will remain active for the shooting session. The difference between these options is not huge, but they do provide more customization.
Pro Zoom has been expanded to 120x, but some users may find it too much. The AI generative fill on this feature can result in overly clean and perfect images, losing the original intent of taking pictures, to capture memories or prove presence.
