Pixel 11 Pro XL Falls Short of Justifying Upgrade Over Two-Year-Old Model
The Pixel 11 Pro XL offers longer battery life, improved speed, and enhanced camera capabilities compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro XL. However, this upgrade comes at a significantly higher cost.
A comparison between the two phones reveals that while the Pixel 11 Pro XL boasts improved hardware, the fundamental design remains largely unchanged from the previous model. Both devices feature similar dimensions and display resolutions, with the only notable difference being a slightly more elegant camera bar on the newer model.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL, launched two years ago, still holds its own in terms of performance and camera capabilities. Google's Tensor G4 chip provides reliable results, although it lags behind the Tensor G6-powered Pixel 11 Pro XL in terms of efficiency. The older phone also lacks the newer model's Qi 2.2 integration, which enables faster wireless charging.
The cameras on both devices share similar specifications, with a 50MP main camera, 48MP telephoto lens, and 48MP wide-angle lens. However, the Pixel 11 Pro XL's new 50MP camera excels in challenging scenarios, offering improved light intake and better results. Google's Camera Looks feature also provides greater control over photo editing.
