Pixel 11 Series Brings Real-Time ASL Translation
The latest Pixel 11 series has introduced a groundbreaking feature that allows users to translate American Sign Language (ASL) into written English in real-time. This innovation, developed in partnership with the Deaf community, uses a multilingual sign language-to-text translation model to analyze hand shapes, facial expressions, and body movements.
The new feature supports both one-handed and two-handed signing and can be used across devices via Gboard or Live Transcribe. To access it, users simply need to add sign-to-text to their Gboard toolbar and sign in ASL to the front camera, with translations appearing on the outer display.
This feature has been made possible by collaboration with the Deaf community, ensuring that the technology is both accurate and accessible. The Pixel 11 series is now available for purchase, with more information available at the Google Store.
