Pixel Pro Shines with Long-Exposure Seascape Capture
Professional photographer Tim Coleman recently snapped an impressive long-exposure seascape using his Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone. According to Coleman, he used the phone's dedicated Long Exposure mode, which is a feature that has been available on Pixel phones for several years.
Coleman notes that while the photo may not be technically perfect, it demonstrates the capabilities of the Pixel's Long Exposure mode when handheld. The image was taken while walking on a beach with a friend, and Coleman emphasizes the importance of keeping the camera steady during capture.
The long exposure effect blurs movement while keeping stationary subjects in sharp focus, making it particularly effective for capturing fast-moving water or traffic light trails at night. However, Coleman notes that Pixel phones are less suitable for truly long exposure photography due to a limit on the time of exposure.
For iPhone users, Coleman explains that they can achieve a similar effect by enabling Live Photo mode and selecting Long Exposure from the options within the camera app. Although the results may not be as effective as those achieved with the Pixel's dedicated mode, it is still possible to capture frameworthy shots using this method.
