Pixel Watch 5 Named One of Most Repairable Smartwatches
Google's Pixel Watch 5 has earned a rare 9 out of 10 repairability score from iFixit, putting it among the most fixable wearables on the market. Unlike most smartwatches that are essentially disposable, the Pixel Watch 5 uses mechanical screws and an O-ring gasket to achieve its water seal, making disassembly straightforward.
The watch's design allows technicians easy access to the vibration motor, motherboard, and battery, with Google even colour-coding the screws to indicate the correct reassembly sequence. This attention to detail is a rare sight in the smartwatch category, where competitors often glue everything shut and leave owners with no way to source replacement parts.
The Pixel Watch 5 starts at £369 in the UK and is available now at various retailers, including the Google Store and Amazon UK. While it may sit above the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 in price, its repair infrastructure gives it a longer useful lifespan argument that Samsung currently can't match.
