Pixel Watch 5 Owners Report Live Camera Feed Issues in Google Home
Some Pixel Watch 5 owners are experiencing issues viewing live camera feeds in the Google Home app, while their older Pixel Watches can still do so. This discrepancy has been reported by several users on Reddit and the Pixel Watch Community.
The affected Pixel Watch 5 users describe seeing a 'Control more features on your phone' message and an 'Open on phone' button instead of loading the live video feed when selecting a camera in the Home app. This issue affects not only Nest doorbells but also outdoor cameras and third-party cameras, while feeds remain accessible on their phones.
Google's support page suggests that live video, two-way talk, and Quick Responses are currently available only on the Pixel Watch 3 and will reach other models 'soon.' However, owners have already been using live view on Pixel Watch 4 and 5. The same page includes troubleshooting steps, which affected owners claim haven't helped.
One owner reported that Google support offered a replacement watch, but it's unclear if the issue was resolved with the new unit. Given the limited number of cases reported so far, the cause is likely to be software or account-related rather than hardware faulty, though this remains unconfirmed.
