Pixel Watch 5 vs. Galaxy Watch 9: Two Android Smartwatches Compared
Google and Samsung have released their latest smartwatches, the Pixel Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 9. While both devices share some similarities, they also have distinct differences in terms of health and safety features, pricing, and design.
The Pixel Watch 5 has a classic round design with a seamless curved display, available in three color options: matte black, polished silver, and satin pyrite. The Galaxy Watch 9, on the other hand, has a more chunky design with a circular display sitting inside a rounded-square base. Both watches come in two different sizes.
The Pixel Watch 5 offers custom strength workouts and tracking of vitals like blood pressure and insulin resistance. However, it lacks the bioelectrical impedance analysis sensor found in the Galaxy Watch 9, which can track body composition. The Galaxy Watch 9 also has a skin analyzer that tracks carotenoids (antioxidants in the skin) via different color LEDs.
The Pixel Watch 5's Health Guardian feature expands upon existing emergency safety features, including Breathing Emergency Detection, which contacts emergency services if there's a life-threatening drop in oxygen saturation. The Galaxy Watch 9 can monitor blood pressure using a user-provided cuff for calibration.
