Pixel Watch Owners Can Breathe Easy: Google Health Support Remains
The first-generation Pixel Watch is still compatible with Google Health, despite recent concerns from some owners. Following reports of error messages warning that data syncing would soon stop due to outdated software, Google confirmed that these notifications were sent in error.
According to Google's Community Manager Stefanie Frederick, the issue was a bug where some users received incorrect warnings about their Pixel Watch running an older version of Wear OS. The company officially stopped guaranteeing software updates for the first-generation Pixel Watch in October 2025.
This news may come as a relief to owners who were worried about losing functionality on their smartwatches. However, Google has consistently only offered three years of updates for its smartwatches, compared to seven years for its flagship smartphones like the Pixel 11.
The last major update the Pixel Watch received was in October 2025, and while it's clear that the company plans for the device to be usable for a good while longer, owners who are concerned about support may want to consider upgrading. The new Pixel Watch 5 will be available on August 21 and will receive software updates through October 2029.
