Poland Named as Potential Customer for $131 Billion F-15 Contract
Poland's Ministry of National Defence has denied any plans to acquire the F-15EX, despite being named as one of the Foreign Military Sales customers in a recent American contract announcement.
The US Department of War confirmed that Boeing had been awarded an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract for the F-15 Eagle Crest programme, with a ceiling value of $131.23 billion.
This type of contract does not buy anything, but rather provides a purchasing mechanism through which orders may later be placed without starting the contractual process from zero each time.
Poland has been rearming at a rapid pace since February 2022, with notable acquisitions including FA-50 light combat aircraft and M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks. However, its existing F-16 force is queued for an upgrade, and it lacks a heavy fourth-generation fighter to complement its incoming F-35s.
The inclusion of Poland in the American framework implies neither a decision nor an active procurement, but rather provides a pathway for Warsaw to acquire the F-15EX if it chooses to do so. Boeing has courted several governments, including Warsaw, and Polish officers have visited St Louis to fly the aircraft.
