Positron AI Lands $875 Million to Challenge Nvidia With Commodity Memory Chips
Positron AI has secured $875 million in funding across two tranches, valuing the Reno-based inference hardware startup at $5 billion. This valuation is roughly five times its February 2026 valuation.
The financing was co-led by NEA, Valor Equity Partners, and Atreides Management, with participation from other prominent investors including the Qatar Investment Authority, Cisco Investments, and Naver Ventures.
Positron AI's strategy centers on using commodity LPDDR5X memory instead of supply-constrained HBM. The company claims to have achieved over 90% memory bandwidth utilization on inference workloads versus less than 30% for typical GPUs.
