Power S1112 Pricing Revealed: IBM Entry Server Costs Soar
IBM's Power S1112 entry server, powered by the Power11 processor, has been on the market for six weeks. However, detailed pricing information was not readily available to the public until now.
According to Ann Dayton, president of Data Tech Computer Services and Robert Knutson, technical sales representative at the company, prices for various configurations of the Power S1112 have increased significantly due to rising costs of CPUs, systems, DRAM memory, and flash components since the beginning of the year.
The entry-level configuration of the Power S1112 comes with four cores activated, 64 GB of main memory, and 1.6 TB of flash storage for $42,300. A more heavily configured version with 128 GB of memory and 12.8 TB of flash adds a feature #EJ2C SAS tape adapter card and doubles the cost to $89,000.
The prices mentioned above are list prices, which typically do not include discounts. IBM and resellers often maintain high prices for new machines, especially those with advanced features like the Power S1112.
