Prime Air Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami Airport After Overrunning Runway
A Prime Air Boeing 767-300 freighter operated by 21 Air overran Runway 30 at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon. The aircraft, registered as N1997A, was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and had departed with cargo for Amazon. The plane reportedly crossed a roadway before coming to rest in a field near an Amazon warehouse.
Images showed the Amazon-branded aircraft close to a building, with heavy smoke rising from it. Video footage captured flames engulfing parts of the freighter and thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Emergency services reported multiple fatalities following the crash.
Preliminary reports indicated that four people had been classified as 'black tag', meaning they were believed to have died, while two others were listed as 'red tag', indicating critical injuries. The circumstances that caused the Boeing 767-300 to leave the runway remain unclear.
