Prince of Cameroon Honored Posthumously for Water Project Legacy
Charles Thomas 'Tom' Dunnells, an 83-year-old outdoor enthusiast and world traveler, passed away on August 15, 2026. Born in Port Washington, New York, on January 26, 1943, Tom was a champion of the underdog who lived a life of curiosity, compassion, and love.
After graduating from the University of Denver with a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics, Tom served in the Peace Corps and began his career as a high school chemistry teacher in inner-city Philadelphia. He later joined IBM as a salesperson and eventually became a Senior Healthcare Consultant before retiring.
In retirement, Tom led a project to bring water to Wum, Cameroon, which earned him the honorary title of Prince of Cameroon. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on August 31, 2026, to celebrate his life and legacy.
